PHYTONUTRIENTS
PHYTONUTRIENTS are naturally-occurring chemicals found in most
fruits and vegetables. These phytonutrients are usually found in
the least desirable part of the food, for example, skin, stalk,
core, and seeds. They fortify the immune system.* Fructo Oligosaccharides
(Flora) has been added to maintain a healthier intestinal tract.*
Scientists have found that phytonutrients may help maintain healthy
cholesterol and normal blood pressure, stimulate regular heart
beat, elevate the mood and detoxify blood.* Phytonutrients also
help cleanse the liver, and improve circulation in body organs.*
Phytonutrients are powerful anti-oxidants.*
BIOVIN® GRAPE SEED EXTRACT (procyanidolic value < 84.0)
(also called pycnongenol): Contains reservatrol which is prominent
in the skin of grapes and may block the action of carcinogens.*
It has also been found to lower blood levels of cholesterol, block
the formation of cholesterol that clogs arteries and reduce the
tendency of the blood to form clots.* Reservatrol also has anti-inflammatory
activity.* It can stimulate cells to produce enzymes that detoxify
carcinogens.* Pycnongenols commonly called Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins
(OPC's) found in grape seed extract are renowned for their superior
antioxidant power and instant bioavailability for their antihistamine,
anti-inflammatory and anti-elastase /collegenase properties.* They
are known to strengthen and repair connective tissue.* Grape seed
extract contains Leucocyanidins, which belong to the family of
bioflavanoids.* Leucocyanidins have an important role in the health
of the circulation system and have many times more antioxidant
protection than vitamins C, A and E.*
BROCCOLI: It has been shown to fend off a host of serious conditions.*
It contains two compounds - indole-3-carbinol (I3C) and sulforaphane
- that help sweep up carcinogens before they have a chance to do
any harm.* It is also good for a healthy heart.* Broccoli is loaded
with nutrients: beta-carotene, antioxidants, calcium, folate, and
fiber.* It also contains: iron, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin
C, manganese and potassium.*
CABBAGE: Like broccoli, cabbage contains a wealth of nutrients
that can ward off serious conditions according to research.* Good
for a healthy heart.* It contains the I3 C's and sulfpraphanes,
beta-carotene, antioxidants, vitamin C, and folate.*
CARROT: Good for the eyes, can improve night vision.* It is also
good for a healthy heart.* Carrots are full of beta-carotene, alpha-carotene,
and vitamin C.*
APPLE PECTIN: A soluble fiber. Similar to fiber found in oat bran,
it performs differently from insoluble fiber in the body. Soluble
fiber forms a gel-like material in the digestive tract that helps
lower cholesterol levels by lowering the amount of cholesterol
produced in the liver. Apple pectin's ability to form a gel slows
digestion, which slows the rise in blood sugar- so it is helpful
for diabetics.
ATLANTIC KELP a heart healthy nutrient that contains folate, magnesium,
iodine, potassium, and alginate.
LECITHIN: A lipid (a chemical substance that is relatively insoluble
in water). Increases the solubility of cholesterol and helps remove
cholesterol from tissue deposits.* Studies have confirmed lecithin's
ability to increase HDL (good) cholesterol and inhibit platelet
clumping or aggregation.*
INULIN: Inulin is an intestinal flora, and a prebiotic.
It works in each person's intestine according to their individual
needs, to help maintain a healthy balance of good intestinal flora.*
It does this by acting like a fertilizer in the intestines, selectively
feeding only the good bacteria that already exist in each individual's
system.*
